Bubble Teams Shake Up Potential Field

Bubble teams shook up things yesterday making the final two weeks much more interesting than the forecast had shown.Yesterday showed that the bubble picture was far from set as bubble teams made statements in particular BYU and Boise State. With these results, it's safe to say we are in for a thrilling two weeks as there are several teams that have a thin line

Winners

Boise State- The Broncos picked up their biggest win of the season by crunching out a win at San Diego State ending the Aztecs' 29- game home winning streak. Boise State is now 2-1 against the Top 25, 3-2 against the Top 50, and 6-4 against the Top 100. This win moves them into our projected field and also puts the Broncos in the driver's seat to win the Mountain West regular season, and they control their own destiny owning the tiebreaker over the Aztecs. Up this week for the Broncos is, at San Jose State and vs. Fresno State. Both are must win games if the Broncos want to stay on pace to dance.

BYU- The Cougars were an at-large after thought entering Saturday and picked up one of the biggest wins of the season for any team as they ended Gonzaga's 41-game home winning streak on Senior Night. This win likely does not put the cougars in the field yet, but it puts them on the cusp and will be seriously discussed as a potential at-large team. Up next for the Cougars: WCC Conference Tournament. The Cougars likely must make the finals and face Gonzaga to have a chance to receive a bid. Best case scenario is obviously to win the automatic berth.

Dayton- The Flyers were a likely tournament team entering the day and were fortunate to be facing a limping VCU team without Briante Weber. The Flyers added another great road win to their resume which is also their 3rd Top 50 win. The Flyers are in decent shape to make the field and have an opportunity to win the A-10. Up this week for the Flyers: vs. Rhode Island, at LaSalle

St. John's- The Red Storm enhanced their resume with a home win over the Georgetown Hoyas and are in good standing to dance. However, they finish their regular season on the roads this week at Marquette and at Villanova. One more win will lock the Red Storm up.

LSU- The Tigers best Ole Miss giving them their 4th Top 50 win this season. With the win, the Tigers' dancing outlook feels much better than it did a week ago. LSU cannot afford anymore questionable losses. Up this week for the Tigers: vs Tennessee, at Arkansas. A win over the Vols might enough in the long run as long as they do not pick up a bad loss in the SEC Tournament.

Georgia, Rhode Island, Cincinnati, Wofford, Old Dominion, Iowa, Davidson, Illinois, Richmond, Tulsa and Texas A&M- All of these teams won avoiding a loss they could not afford.

Losers

NC State- The Wolfpack followed a huge road win with a bad loss on the road to the Eagles of Boston College. NC State is still on the right side of the bubble but is by at no means a lock. Up this week: at Clemson, vs Syracuse. Win both and the Wolfpack should breathe easy on Selection Sunday.

Xavier- The Musketeers had a great opportunity to solidify their bid with a win over a red hot Villanova team, but instead, they stumbled at home where they have been great all year. Xavier is very likely going dancing but needs to finish strong. Up this week: at Creighton. A win will lock them up. A loss may put them in icy waters.

Miami (FL)- The Hurricanes lost at home to the Tar Heels and are reeling quickly. Miami(FL) is on the outside looking in and has a lot of work to do to get in. Up this week: at Pittsburgh, at Virginia Tech. Canes need both to get back in serious discussion.

Ole Miss- The Rebels entered the week in great shape, but a loss at home to Georgia earlier this week and now at LSU puts them closer to the cut line. Ole Miss is now in rough waters as they enter the final week of the regular season. Up this week: at Alabama, vs Vanderbilt. The Rebels need both to feel great about their chances.

Oklahoma State- The Cowboys picked up their fourth straight loss yesterday, and it was a bad one as they lost at Texas Tech. The Cowboys have plenty of good wins and are still in decent shape. But at 7-9 in the Big 12, the final week is very important. Up this week: vs TCU, at West Virginia. Win both and the Cowboys will definitely dance.

Texas: The Longhorns lost again and are now 1-12 against the Top 50 once again proving they cannot beat tournament quality teams. However, the Longhorns have NO BAD LOSSES, which will be interesting to see what the Selection Committee does if this holds. Texas is in a dangerous spot where they need good wins. Up this week: vs Kansas State, vs Baylor.
