College Football Week 2 Upset Watch/Picks

UPSET WATCH

Western Michigan over Michigan State
The Broncos almost pulled off a stunner at the coliseum. They seem poised to compete for the MAC Championship once again. The Spartans beat Bowling Green and now prepare for a Western Michigan team who is already battle tested. The Broncos have had this one circled since the summer workouts. Sparty better be ready to play.

New Hampshire over Georgia Southern
If there is a chance for a FCS team to beat a FBS team in Week 2, this one very well could be one. The Eagles offense was not existent against Auburn. The Wildcats are currently ranked 12th in the FCS coaches poll. The Eagles need to answer their offensive struggles from last week, otherwise they could become prey for the Wildcats. With the game now in Birmingham due to Hurricane Irma, there is no longer a home field advantage.

Howard over Kent State
Caylin Newton and Howard pulled off the biggest upset according to point spread in college football history over UNLV last week. Now they go to Kent, OH to play another weaker FBS team. Can they upset Kent State too? With Paul Haynes out for medical leave and coming off a blowout lose to Clemson the pressure is on the Golden Flashes to not become the 2nd victim of Howard. The Bison will be ready for this one.

South Dakota over Bowling Green
The Coyotes scored 77 points in a blowout victory over Drake last week. Bowling Green is coming off a 35-10 loss at Michigan State. Chris Streveler is ready to test his arm against the Falcons defense after throwing for 5 touchdowns last week. The Falcons defense better be ready or otherwise an upset is definitely possible.

San Diego State over Arizona State
The Sun Devils escaped New Mexico State by 6 points and play an Aztec team with a pretty good offense and defense. The Sun Devil offense is the key for Arizona State. Can the Aztecs shut down Manny Wilkins? Can the Sun Devils shutdown Chapman and Penny? This should be an exciting game.
Oregon State over Minnesota
The Gophers did not look impressive at all in their opening win over Buffalo. The Beavers also had to escape Portland State last week. Game is in Corvallis, Oregon. Will it be the Minnesota defense or the Oregon State offense? The Beavers get a chance to avenge their loss last season.
Notre Dame over Georgia
This should be an exciting game in South Bend. Eason is out for the game which puts true freshman Jake Fromm is the spotlight at South Bend. Notre Dame quarterback Brandon Wimbush looked impressive last week in their win over Temple. The Georgia defense also looked impressive in their win over Appalachian State. This could come down to quarterback play. This is the biggest game so far in Wimbush and Fromm's careers. Who will lead their team to victory?

Western Kentucky over Illinois
The Illini needed a fourth quarter comeback to beat Ball State last week and now play a tougher Western Kentucky team. In order to avoid the upset, the Illini will need to be better on offense. Only 216 yards of offense will probably not be enough against Western Kentucky. The Hilltoppers will be ready to pull the upset.
