M+J's College Football Upset Watch/Picks- Week 5

UPSET WATCH

NFL and College Basketball have owned the headlines this week as College Football gears up for Week 5. Who's on Upset Watch?

Duke over Miami FL

An undefeated battle in Durham Friday night will be in the spotlight. Duke has been pretty impressive so far this season and is rebounding nicely. The Blue Devils will be ready to go and looking for the win that would land them in the Top 25. The Hurricanes better come prepared.

Wake Forest over Florida State

Usually a 4-0 team would not be an underdog against an 0-2 team. In this case, the Seminoles are still the favorite with their success from previous seasons. Will Florida State start the season 0-3? The Demon Deacons are 4-0 and playing with more confidence than the Seminoles. This game will likely be a defensive battle where it could come down to whosever offense makes a big play late or a game winning field goal. It will be interesting to see the motivation level of the Seminoles. With the game at Wake Forest, the deacons will be ready for the challenge.

Mississippi State over Auburn

Auburn is 3-1 but has not beat anyone good to note. The Bulldogs have the demolition of LSU to their resume. Mississippi State has shown to be the better team so far. However, the Tigers did hang in there against Clemson and are at home. Mississippi State is the road underdog and are looking to get back on track after being manhandled by Georgia.

Texas Tech over Oklahoma State

Hangover for the Cowboys? Mason Rudolph vs Nic Shimonek. Two of the most efficient quarterbacks square off in Lubbock on Saturday. Texas Tech has looked good so far in their 3-0 start including wins over Arizona State and Houston. The Cowboys arrive after their home loss to TCU where they will try to bounce back. Expect an epic quarterback battle where which ever one shines more likely leads his team to victory.

New Mexico State over Arkansas

The Razorbacks have already been beaten at home twice and have not looked so well. The Aggies of New Mexico State come in with one of their best teams in years at 2-2 with narrow losses to Arizona State and Troy. NM State is a regular cupcake most years, so Arkansas could take them lightly. However, this is not the year for that. Bielema needs to have his guys ready here as this is not a team to sleep on.

Central Michigan over Boston College

The seat is heating up for Addazio who had his team playing well for 3 quarters in each of their previous games before getting wiped out in the 4th. Central Michigan has already won at Kansas and has been a dangerous opponent for Power 5 teams before. Addazio and company better not look ahead to Virginia Tech and Louisville. Sleeping on the Chippewas could cost him his job.
