M+J's College Football Upset Watch/Picks- Week 3

UPSET WATCH

Central Michigan over Syracuse

The Orange lost to Middle Tennessee at the Carrier Dome and now host Central Michigan who is riding a 2-0 start with a win over Kansas last week. Syracuse better be ready as the Chippewas already beat one Power 5 opponent on the road. The Orange so far appear to have improved on defense from last season. Are they ready to stop a balanced offensive attack from Shane Morris and the Chippewas?

North Carolina A&T over Charlotte

Another one of those FBS vs FCS games that appears to have upset potential. The 49ers have really struggled this season especially on offense where they have only scored 14 points total in two losses to Kansas State and Eastern Michigan. The Aggies on the other end have been very successful on offense and defense against weaker competition. They are averaging 50.5 points/game and the defense has only given up 3 points. Confidence is there on both sides of the football. Can they get it done over a FBS team?

Purdue over Missouri

The Boilermakers have looked better this season with a 1-1 start that includes a close loss to Louisville and a pretty good win over a decent Ohio team. As for Missouri, Barry Odom has really already fired his defensive coordinator. Both teams come in at 1-1. By the looks of the statistics, this game should have a lot of offense. Whoever's defense can make stops down the stretch will likely pull their team to victory.

New Mexico State over Troy
The Aggies are coming off a big win over rival New Mexico and suddenly have fans thinking can this be the season we finally end our bowl drought? 1960 was the last time New Mexico State played in a bowl game. This is a big opportunity at home against the Troy Trojans who played Boise State tough a couple weeks ago. Expect a close game that could end up being important in the Sun Belt conference race. The fans will be ready as will the Aggies. Can they knock off Troy?

Mississippi State over LSU

The Bulldogs offense has looked really well as the LSU defense has been dominant. Both teams so far have produced very balanced offensive attacks as the defenses have both been able to make plays. The bad news  for Mississippi State is they haven't faced a defense like LSU yet. LSU's defense also hasn't faced a team with an offense like Mississippi State yet. Fitzgerald has been excellent for the Bulldogs and Guice has been tough for the Tigers. LSU wins the game if they can shut down Fitzgerald and the Bulldogs offense. I feel the game favors Mississippi State if they are able to score touchdowns. This should be a great SEC West opener.
Louisville over Clemson

Lamar Jackson has already put up big numbers in wins over Purdue and North Carolina. Now the defending National Champs come to town. A chance for a big marque win and an opportunity for Jackson to continue his campaign for Heisman. The Tigers defense has been dominant so far this season as Kent State and Auburn offensives could never find any rhythm. With great defensive numbers from Clemson and dominant offensive numbers from Jackson, something's got to give. This will be a big test for the Clemson defense as for the Louisville offense. Will it be Louisville's offense or Clemson's defense? Should be a great one in Louisville.
